FARM MUSIC
I’m from the country. We play Farm Music.
Feeling more and more distant from the country music of today, and only remotely linked to what goes for rock and roll these days, I decided to form a separate genre: Farm Music.
“What kind of music do you play?”
“We play Farm Music.”
And that was even before Charlene and I moved back to the farm where I grew up. Now that we have, it seems even more like a good idea.
And then there’s the whole Red Dirt Music movement that got its start just up the rode in Stillwater at a place they also called “The Farm” where a lot of the Red Dirt musicians hung out or even lived – most famously, Bob Childers. The Stillwater “Farm” gives even more weight to the whole Farm Music idea.
More on all of this later.
